Description:
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is the first major paid expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds, taking the Expedition Team beyond the base game’s ending and into Master Rank. A colossal dragon’s attack changes the Forbidden Lands on land and in the sky, drawing both new threats and legendary Elder Dragons—including the returning Teostra—into the hunt. It launches in 2027.
What’s new
• Master Rank begins: Ascendance continues the main story with more difficult hunts, expanded quest ranks, new locales, and a fresh chapter for the Expedition Team. You must complete the base-game quest “Awaking From a Dream” and reach Hunter Rank 40 to access it.
• New and returning monsters: The expansion introduces the new Elder Dragon Gundoraja and other unannounced creatures, while Teostra—the fire-breathing Elder Dragon—returns as a huntable monster.
• A new skyborne locale: The expedition travels to a new area above the Forbidden Lands, with the massive dragon’s siege signaling major ecological change across land and sky.
• Boost Bracer combat: Equip the Boost Bracer to activate Boost Drivers, unlocking weapon-specific Boosted Actions such as new combos, stronger attacks, improved guarding, and more possibilities across all 14 weapon types.
• Smoother hunt preparation: The expansion adds faster weapon swapping, the ability to change equipment outside the tent, and improved visibility for monster hide toughness.
Platforms and timing
• Ascendance is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, with cross-play confirmed. Capcom has announced only a 2027 release window, not a specific date; the base game is required.
