Afterworld is an upcoming post-apocalyptic grand-strategy game from Paradox Development Studio, the team behind Crusader Kings III and Hearts of Iron. Lead a survivor tribe through the semi-procedural ruins of North America, reclaim lost technology, manage settlements, and forge an empire from the ashes of civilization.

• Rebuild after The Fall: The game takes place more than a century after a world-ending war, in a transformed North America where old-world relics, radiation, and competing survivor factions shape every campaign.

• Every world changes: Dynamic world generation means the same location can emerge as a thriving safe haven in one run and a dangerous irradiated wasteland in the next.

• Rule your way: Develop settlements, manage your population and resources, uncover ancient technology, negotiate or clash with rival powers, and navigate internal political tensions within your own tribe.

• A new Paradox direction: Rather than being set in real history, Afterworld is Paradox Development Studio’s first original non-historical grand-strategy setting in more than a decade.

• Release status: Afterworld was revealed at gamescom 2026 and is planned for PC via Steam, but it does not yet have a release date.
